A shootout between police officers and suspects in planning a toll robbery left seven dead early Wednesday morning in a rural area near Brasilia, according to police reports.
Law enforcement forces mounted a raid around four in the morning on a farm in the town of Novo Gama, in the state of Goiás, but were shot at by the alleged criminals who were hiding inside.
The shooting left “seven dead” “All members of the gang,” the Military Police of the Federal District, which includes Brasilia, told AFP.
The alleged criminals planned to rob a toll on a highway that leaves the Brazilian capital, local media reported.
The joint police operation of the Federal District and Goiás found 11 firearms, ammunition and explosives on the farm that would be used to blow up the toll chests, the G1 website said.
The authorities continue to search for other suspectsThey would have fled the place after the police action, according to the news portal.
