Settlement of Medimás: Affiliates to that EPS ask that they be guaranteed care

The Association of Users of the EPS Medimás, affirmed that the decision of the National Superintendence of Health to liquidate the entity did not take them by surprise, due to the serious failures in the provision of medical services that had been occurring at the national level.

The representative of Medimás users, Ingrid Martínez, He pointed out that the problems in the attention of the users of 14 departments, had been presenting for more than four years.

“We have come in a four-year process, which is what this EPS has, registering inconveniences for the provision of quality health service, and the only thing that users asked for was that they be attended in a timely manner, complying with medical appointments, delivery medicines and other services to which one is entitled”, he stated.

He pointed out that the most important thing after the announcement of the liquidation of the EPS Medimás is that it be guaranteed for the time that the transfer of the affiliates will be carried out, the attention of the people.

“The most important thing and what worries us is that they guarantee us the provision, health services in all aspects, medications, treatments, appointments, comprehensive management; and patients with both comprehensive and restrictive guardianships, who respect what we have been able to achieve with so much effort to give quality of life to our relatives, ”he stressed.

For her part, Claudia Cubillos, president of the users of the IPS Corvesalud that provides services to Medimás, pointed out that there are many non-compliances that were had by the EPS.

“We have witnessed that due to the lack of attention and the non-delivery of medicines, many people have had to go to intensive care units, but we believe that the closure was essential due to the non-compliance that was had and the mockery that daily carried out with users who demanded better care”, he said.

For his part, the president of the Patient Defense Organization, Francisco Castellanos, He stated that it is necessary to make a call to guarantee the care of patients who have pending treatments.

“Medimás, systematically violated the rights of users during this year, many of them died due to administrative delays and refusal of services”he pointed.

The spokesperson for patients in Colombia, Denis Silva, criticized the delay of the Superintendence of Health to liquidate this EPS, which had a poor health service.

“We do not see why they were so moderate in making a decision considering that the attention of the users was not being guaranteed and the complaints and claims were increasing every day,” he said.

For its part, the EPS Medimás in a statement he spoke and said that he abides and respects the decisions of the National Superintendence of Health in the face of the liquidation process that has begun of the EPS.

“The entity clarifies that while the process of transferring users to other EAPB is carried out, on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the provision of services will continue to be guaranteed, as well as responding to requests through the channels attention, face-to-face and non-face-to-face”, he added.

He also said that he calls on the provider network to continue guaranteeing the provision in a timely manner of health services, in the 14 territories where the EPS is present, during the necessary time that the Ministry of Health takes to carry out the transfers of the users.
