Services sector grows 1.7% in June and reaches record level

The volume of services in the country increased by 1.7% in June this year, compared to May. With this result, the sector reached its highest level in the historical series, which began in 2012.Services sector grows 1.7% in June and reaches record level

Data from the Monthly Services Survey (PMS) were released this Tuesday (13) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The sector is 0.5% above the previous record level, registered in December 2022, and 14.3% above the pre-COVID-19 pandemic level, that is, February 2020.

Compared to June last year, the sector grew by 1.3%. Increases were also observed in the accumulated figures for the year 2024 (1.6%) and for the 12-month period (1%).

The five service activities surveyed by IBGE showed an increase from May to June: transport (1.8%), information and communication (2%), professional, administrative and complementary (1.3%), other services (1.6%) and services provided to families (0.3%).

Nominal revenue increased by 2.7% compared to May this year, 6.3% compared to June 2023, 5.8% in the year to date and 4.9% in the 12-month period.
