According to the survey, three of the five activities investigated followed the 0.9% increase in the volume of services in September 2022, compared to the previous month. Among the highlights, information and communication increased by 2%, being the third consecutive positive result, with an accumulated gain of 4.1%. “All the groups within the information and communication services showed growth”, informed the manager.

The other increases were in services provided to families with 1%, posting the seventh consecutive growth, with an accumulated gain of 11.7%; and in professionals, administrative and complementary services of 0.2%, which showed a lower behavior, with an aggregate gain of 0.3% in the last two months.

Within the services provided to families, PMS recorded an increase in the revenue of restaurant companies; hotels; catering and fitness activities. In administrative and complementary professional services, the increase was in car rental; engineering services; electronic payment solutions; business management consultancy; collection activities and registration information; management of intangible assets; and organization, promotion and management of fairs, congresses and conventions.

Tourist activities grew by 0.4% in September, the third consecutive positive result. In these three months, the segment accumulated a gain of 3.2% and is 0.7% above the level of February 2020. In addition, it was 6.7% below the highest point of the series, reached in February 2014. five of the 12 locations surveyed followed the 0.4% rise in national tourist activity. The positive highlights were Rio de Janeiro (2.6%), São Paulo (0.7%), Federal District (3.4%) and Pernambuco (1.6%). Minas Gerais (-1.5%) and Rio Grande do Sul (-3.2%) were the main declines.

After falling 0.5% in August, the volume of passenger transport in Brazil grew 1.6% in September. As a result, it is 1.6% above the level of February 2020 (pre-pandemic) and 21% below February 2014 (the highest point in the historical series).

Federation Units

Among the 27 federation units, 19 followed the progress of the national sector and increased the volume of services in September 2022, compared to August. The most relevant highlights were in Rio de Janeiro (0.7%), Santa Catarina (2.6%), Rio Grande do Sul (1%) and São Paulo (0.1%). The main negative influence was Paraná, with a drop of 2.3%, followed by Pernambuco, with a decrease of 1.6% and Minas Gerais, with a decrease of 0.2%.
