Service exports break record and reach US$51.8 billion in 2025

Brazilian services exports reached a record value of US$51.83 billion in 2025, of which 65% refer to digital services. The value appears in the Brazilian Foreign Trade Panel of Services in Numbers (ComexVis Services), launched last Wednesday (28) by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Mdic).Service exports break record and reach US$51.8 billion in 2025

The tool brings together unprecedented and interactive statistical data on international service transactions in Brazil and around the world. Unlike the trade balance, which reflects exports and imports of goods, trade in services did not have detailed statistics in the country.

Although service transactions make up the Central Bank’s (BC) external accounts, released every month, the monetary authority compiles the data in aggregate form, without breaking down the numbers.

The data presented in the panel is based on primary information from the Central Bank and becomes part of the set of official statistics released by Secex. ComexVis Serviços also adds to the ministry’s digital ecosystem, which includes tools such as Comex Stat and the Comex Viswith graphs, indicators and interactive analyses.

Developed by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), the panel aims to increase transparency, qualify public debate and strengthen the formulation of policies aimed at the competitiveness of the services sector in the country’s international insertion. The platform allows you to consult updated export and import values, monitor the historical evolution of flows and analyze distribution by sectors and commercial partners.

According to the vice-president and minister of Mdic, Geraldo Alckmin, the initiative responds to a growing demand for structured information about the sector. He highlighted that services constitute an increasingly relevant frontier of foreign trade and highlights that around 40% of the value added in Brazilian manufactured exports corresponds to embedded services, according to data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development,

“The platform meets the demand for comparable and accessible data on international trade,” said Alckmin in a note.

According to Secex, the initiative contributes to expanding knowledge about the sector and supporting the production sector. According to the secretariat, by making information available in a simple and visual way, the panel allows the government, businesspeople and associations to identify business opportunities, strengthening the promotion of trade in services.

Dependence on external capital

Despite record exports of services in 2025, Brazil has a chronic deficit in the sector’s balance. Last year, the country imported US$104.77 billion in services, with the balance remaining negative at US$52.94 billion. Added to the high volume of profit remittances abroad in 2025, the country ended last year with deficit of US$68.791 billion in external accounts.

The deficit in external accounts could be double if it were not for the surplus of US$ 68.293 billion in the trade balance last year. In practice, losses in external accounts indicate dependence on financial resources, such as the stock exchange, and direct investments by foreign companies in Brazil for the country to close its balance of payments, increase international reserves and prevent the devaluation of the real.

Last year, the external account deficit was compensated, with a surplus, by foreign direct investment, which totaled US$77.676 billion, the best result since 2014. The increase in service exports would help reduce Brazil’s dependence on external capital.
