The new curricular framework and the 2022 study plans for basic education propose, among other modifications, to move from the teaching of subjects, which lead to fragmentation of teaching and learning
towards a model organized by four training fields
that will be used at all school levels: languages; knowledge and scientific thought; ethics, nature and society, and the human and the community.
The document prepared by the General Directorate of Curriculum Development of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) indicates that teachers hired by subject will not be affected. However, it does not specify how this change will take place in the classrooms.
The four training fields seek to strengthen an interdisciplinary perspective that allows reorganization of the contents
as well as the generation of a flexible, dynamic, situated curriculum, adapting the academic contents to the immediate reality of the students
.
The SEP adds that as part of the curriculum transformation
will transition from school grades to six learning phases
, in order to strengthen the cognitive processes of the students: the first is initial education, followed by preschool and the third would correspond to the first and second grades of primary school. The third and fourth grades occupy the fourth stage; It is followed by fifth and sixth grades, while the sixth phase integrates the three secondary grades.
