After the evidence presented by the Public Ministry, the 1st Trial Court on violence against women of Anzoátegui handed down a sentence of 26 years and 3 months in prison against Arquímedes José Carpintero Rodríguez (38). The subject was found guilty of committing sexual violence against his 16-year-old niece.
The case was detected on February 27, 2023 in the Simón Bolívar municipality. That day, the victim’s mother took her to a health center because the young woman had discomfort in her private parts.
During the medical examination, the teenager confessed that her maternal uncle took advantage of her when she stayed at his house and constantly threatened her so that she would not tell what happened. This was indicated in a press release by the Public Ministry.
Given the seriousness of the testimony, both went to the municipal police to formalize the complaint. The investigations coordinated by the Public Ministry allowed the arrest to be made effective on March 4 of that same year.
During the trial, the 23rd Prosecutor’s Office of said jurisdiction ratified the accusation for the crimes of sexual violence, psychological violence and continuous threat. After evaluating the evidence, the court determined that the now convicted man serve his sentence in the Barcelona Agroproductive Detention Center.
