Sentenced to 24 years for a kidnapping in Trujillo

Trapped a subject accused of two homicides

The Public Ministry reported that a court in the state of Trujillo decreed a sentence of 24 years and 10 months in prison against José Fernando Durán Valero (30), accused of committing a kidnapping.

The Prosecutor’s Office report indicates that the incident occurred on May 17, 2017 in the Batatal sector, Boconó municipality (Trujillo). “At approximately 7 in the morning that day, the victim was on the farm where he worked with his wife and other employees, when they were surprised by two armed men,” the court report says.

In another criminal process, the 2nd Control Court of Bolívar, Puerto Ordaz extension (Bolívar), decreed a sentence consisting of 9 years and 2 months for Arduin Richard García Marcano (41), after admitting his responsibility in the theft of a telephone from a teenager; An event that occurred on October 29, 2025 in the town of San Félix, Bolívar state, reported the Public Ministry.

That day, the victim was in her father’s business, when she was surprised by the now convicted man, who wounded her in the back with a knife to take away her cell phone.

After the incident, the aggressor immediately fled, while the teenager alerted passersby who were passing by with her screams; They informed the regional police about the situation, whose officials detained García Marcano a few meters from the site.

At the preliminary hearing, the Prosecutor’s Office ratified the accusation against the man for the crimes of aggravated robbery and minor personal injuries. The subject admitted his participation in the events, and consequently, he was convicted.

For its part, the 3rd Court of Control of Amazonas issued deprivation of liberty for fishermen Jorge Luis Vera (39) and Manuel Alberto Dadure Sánchez (43), for their alleged responsibility in marijuana trafficking, a fact detected on February 3 in the Port of Muelle Bagre, Puerto Ayacucho.

In the early hours of that day, officials from the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) observed a boat traveling along the Orinoco River from Colombia.

The police searched the boat and found 4 panels of marijuana hidden in the legs of a table weighing 4 kilos 357 grams, according to the report.
