The 1st Court of Judgment of Crimes of Violence against Women in the State of Táchira issued a 12 -year sentence to Oberty Santamaría García (58) for his responsibility in sexual abuse committed against his 13 -year -old stepdaughter.
The incident occurred on March 4, 2022 and the complaint was filed by the victim’s father before the Victim Attention Unit (UVA) of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the city of San Cristóbal, capital of the Táchira state, reviewed a press release of the public body.
The father came to the Public Ministry after talking two days before with his daughter about his stepfather. The young woman confessed that the man had touched her intimate parts and kissed her by force. Previously, he had touched his legs and tried to go further.
After the medical and psychological evaluations made to the young woman, it was found that despite not having physical injuries associated with abuse, he had traits and behaviors consisting of those of a victim of this type of flagella.
On May 28, 2024, the apprehension of Santamaría García was materialized at the Politáchira headquarters in Palmira (Guásimos Municipality) and was left available to the Public Ministry.
It should be noted that at the time of his arrest he was found in the police information system that had an arrest warrant since August 2023.
In the trial, the Prosecutor’s Office ratified the accusation against Santamaría García as the author of sexual abuse without penetration to the detriment of his stepdaughter.
