The SGC maintains constant surveillance about these events, which although they do not represent a major threat, do reflect the permanent tectonic activity of the country.

What to do in case of a tremor?

1. Before the earthquake:
Identify safe areas within your home, such as columns, structural doors or solid corners. Have an emergency kit with water, flashlight, radio, documents and kit.

2. During the earthquake:
Keep calm. Protect yourself in a safe zone and welcome windows, glass, objects that may fall and unstable structures. If you are in a building, do not use elevators. If you are on the street, get down posts, cables and facades.

  • Do not spread rumors or false news.
  • Participate in drills and emergency community plans.
