Senegal gets their ticket to the round of 16 after beating Ecuador 2-1

The Senegal soccer team beat Ecuador 2-1 on Tuesday, which was eliminated from the World Cup, to qualify for the round of 16 as second in Group A thanks to goals from Ismaila Sarr and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Senegal recorded six points in second place, which the Netherlands led with seven points. Ecuador was left with four and Qatar did not add.

In the game played at the Khalifa International Stadium, Senegal pressed from the start of the game and was close to scoring with two dangerous arrivals that they could not make in the first 10 minutes.

The African team continued to dominate and scored the goal after 44 minutes with a penalty that Sarr scored with a placed shot that hit the left post after being brought down inside the box by Piero Hincapie.

In the second half, Senegal gave the initiative to Ecuador to take advantage of their speed and play on the counterattack.

Ecuador began to dominate the match and equalized in the 67th minute when Moisés Caicedo pushed the ball into the six-yard box after Félix Torres headed in a corner kick from the right wing.

But the happiness of the Ecuadorians was short-lived, as three minutes later Senegal took the lead again with a shot from Koulibaly inside the area after a weak defensive rebound from Enner Valencia.

In the rest of the game, Ecuador desperately searched for a tie that would give them a ticket to the next phase, but they did not succeed.
