However, the majority of the members of the Commission, especially the independents and the opposition, they will not come to this appointment. The Conservative Party affirmed that senators Nadia Blel and Esperanza Andrade will not respond to this call and reiterated that their position is to vote negative for this legislative proposal.
“We will continue within the Commission, as is our duty, giving the debate with arguments about the inconvenience of the project of Health Reform Presented by the National Government, defending our position of requesting the archive of this initiative since it only AGGRAVATES the current situation of the health system, implies an expense that exceeds the budget and does not have clear, precise and lasting sources of financing,” they indicate.
“Our commitment is to build a health reform that responds to the real needs of the country, but we will not support any alternative proposal without guaranteeing the resources to protect health and dignified care for all Colombians,” added conservatism.

The Christian senators Ana Paola Agudelo and Lorena Ríos will not attend either the meeting that the Government of President Gustavo Petro called at the Casa de Nariño, to try to save the health reform. The congresswomen consider that the stage to discuss this project is the Seventh Committee of the Senate.
Neither Miguel Ángel Pinto, president of the Commission, nor Norma Hurtado, who is the main author of the alternative presentation, will attend, much less after the Government has harshly attacked the text that she proposed within this corporation.
It is expected that this Tuesday the discussion of the negative presentation presented by the Democratic Center, that for obvious reasons will not go to the Presidential Palace either.
However, the president Gustavo Petro denied having invited a meeting with him to talk about health reform and warned again about the possibility of going to the constituent power.
In this regard, Senator Honorio Henríquez stated: “It seems that President Petro just woke up and he realized that they had summoned us to a meeting today at 3:00 in the afternoon to talk about health reform, a meeting to which, by the way, I announced that I was not attending. The debate is taking place in the Seventh Commission and we will continue to give it to the Colombians.”
Once the Seventh Commission votes the negative report, they will proceed to study the report that supports the Historical Pact and the National Government, which also does not have the necessary votes to be approved.
