“In the event that none of the facilities within the premises of the Senate of the Republic have the necessary conditions for holding the sessions of the Chamber, the Plenary authorizes the Board of Directors to provide a location in Mexico City that has the services required for such purposes,” it was approved.
Finally, it states that, in any of the cases provided for, the members of the Assembly will be informed in a timely manner of the site determined “to carry out the work of the sessions of the Chamber, through the means of dissemination of the Senate of the Republic.”
When the bill reaches the Senate, the plenary session will send it to the drafting committees: the Constitutional Points Committee and the First Legislative Studies Committee, the first of which is chaired by the former City Attorney General, Ernestina Godoy, and the second could be headed by the general secretary of Morena, Citlalli Hernández, who will also be part of Sheinbaum’s Cabinet.
Ernestina Godoy, currently elected senator representing Mexico City, was chosen by Claudia Sheinbaum to occupy the position of Legal Advisor to the Presidency in the six-year term that will begin on October 1, 2024.
The Chamber of Deputies is discussing judicial reform in an alternate venue in Magdalena Mixhuca in the face of the blockade of the facilities of the legislative complex in San Lázaro that judicial workers began in the early hours of this Tuesday.
According to the reforms approved in October 2023 to the Regulations of the Chamber of Deputies, regarding semi-presential sessions and meetings, an alternate venue may be called at any time to hold a session or even hold a semi-presential session.
The ordinance states that although semi-presential sessions must be called by the President of the Board of Directors, with the approval of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo), Morena and its allies control both chamber governing bodies.
