The national leader of the PRI and his elected senators yesterday closed the door to Manlio Fabio Beltrones after he criticized the re-election of Alejandro Moreno as party president.
Only one day after taking office after his re-election on Sunday, Moreno Cárdenas met with the elected senators with whom he agreed not to admit the former governor of Sonora into the parliamentary group of the tricolor in the Upper House.
The decision was approved by majority vote and by a show of hands in a meeting held behind closed doors at the PRI’s national headquarters, where Manuel Añorve was also confirmed as the party’s coordinator. In a subsequent meeting with the elected federal deputies, it was also decided to keep Rubén Moreira as their parliamentary leader in San Lázaro.
In a statement, the PRI announced the exclusion of Beltrones, who was a national leader of the tricolor and one of its most prominent members.
This determination is based on the seriousness of the actions of Senator Beltrones Rivera, which have significantly attacked the ideological, programmatic and organizational unity of the party.
he noted.
He stressed that the former leader He is currently facing various disciplinary procedures for expulsion, in accordance with the PRI’s statutes and internal regulations. Consequently, the parliamentary group… in the Senate is made up of 15 senators
.
The statement stressed that Beltrones is free to join any other parliamentary group, and in no case do his statements, declarations, votes or positions represent the PRI bench or the party.
.
At the beginning of July, Beltrones described Alejandro Moreno’s attempt to be re-elected as nonsense and a terrible idea. He even called him irresponsible.
The PRI leader reported on the senators’ meeting by publishing various photographs on his social networks, but did not comment on the decision to exclude Beltrones from the bench.
