The Senate’s Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) defended this Wednesday (11) parliamentarians’ access to the investigation into fraud at Banco Masterliquidated by the Central Bank last year.
The president of the commission, senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL), and other parliamentarians from the collegiate met with the president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Edson Fachin, and reinforced that the CAE has legal competence to supervise the financial system and must help hold those involved accountable.
In an interview after the meeting, the senator defended the summoning of banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner Master, to give testimony to the commission.
“For the commission’s work to be productive, I think we should start the testimony phase by listening to Vorcaro,” he stated.
Calheiros also said that he must speak with other ministers of the Court and with the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, to defend access to the investigation.
At the Supreme Court, the investigation investigating fraud at Banco Master is reported by Minister Dias Toffoli.
In November 2025, banker Daniel Vorcaro and other defendants were the target of Operation Compliance Zero, launched by the Federal Police (PF) to investigate the granting of false credits by Banco Master, including the attempted purchase of the financial institution by Banco de Brasília (BRB), a public bank linked to the government of the Federal District.
According to investigations, fraud could reach R$17 billion.
