Senator Provoste (DC) requests “seriousness” and “rigor” in the dispatch of security projects

In the midst of the legislative maelstrom after the death of the second sergeant of the Carabineros, Rita Olivares, the head of the new bench of senators of the Christian Democracy (DC), Yasna Provoste, indicated that they will support the security agenda that is being processed in Congress, but that this requires “seriousness” and “rigor” in his office.

In this sense, the parliamentarian stated that “that is why we have supported the proposal made by the president of the Senate to process all those projects that have to do with matters of citizen security.”

“Within the term that the president of the Senate has indicated, that is, next Tuesday, we are going to present indications to this project that seeks, on the one hand, to protect the physical integrity of those who exercise the power of arms in our country by constitutional decision, but also guaranteed the rule of law and individual liberties,” he added.

In view of the foregoing, Provoste declared that the security problem “has been dragging on for many years”, for which reason “it is essential to improve the remuneration of Carabineros”.

“On this level, we want to ask the right if it is going to help bring about a tax reform that allows us to collect more to pay more and better to the police officers who perform critical functions or who are in complex territories,” criticized the legislator.

“From our benches we have begun a legislative analysis that requires seriousness and rigor in your office,” concluded Senator Provoste.
