Senator of the FA distributed leaflets of the Yes in light blue and the controversy over the colors resurfaced

the senators Carmen Asiaín (National Party) Y Sandra Lazo (Broad Front) maintained a crossover via Twitter after the latter distributed light blue brochures, identified with the Yes to the repeal of the law of urgent consideration (LUC), in a tour of the department of Flores.

The nationalist Asian questioned the “disloyal” attitude of her colleague when she understood that the use of the light blue color – assigned by the Electoral Court for the No option – had been inappropriate.

As he stressed, Lazo sent an “almost fraudulent” signal that could have confused various voters. “I asked myself: ‘Is this Sandra Lazo? It can’t be.’ to go out and distribute brochures, but it’s not the same as an X militant doing it to a senator of the Republic,” he told The Observer.

The Frente Amplio legislator justified her actions by clarifying that she distributed “brochures” and not “ballots” of the Yes, although she recognized that she should have foreseen the confusion of colors. “I never imagined. If I had known that someone was going to be confused with that, I would not go out. I went out because, between going out with nothing in hand or going out only with the pink ones, which are new, we prefer to go out with both,” he explained to El Observador.

In turn, he attributed the “error” to a “distribution problem” dating back to April 2021 -before the court announced the identifying colors-, despite the fact that the content, he understands, is “very correct”.

“Now I told them ‘get all this out’. At the time I didn’t realize that those were the flyers from earlier, but I play it down because there really was no intention or any twisted thought. We are campaigning,” he assured.

“It is impossible to go out with a communication consultant by your side to talk about these things. When you get to the interior you have to deal with the material you have. Perhaps one is quite innocent and should think that someone could misinterpret that, but we are campaign and those things can happen. I can assure you that next time I’m going to take a good look at what color the brochures I’m carrying are,” he added.

consulted by The ObserverAsiaín replied that the “only” intention of his questioning was to stop the “unfair competition” that he observed from the legislator, whom he disbelieved in her sayings: “Are you going to tell me that they have no resources when the money has already been announced? What are they going to invest (in the campaign)? That’s an excuse. If you don’t have, you don’t distribute. We don’t walk with the No in pink, “he replied.

And he insisted: “If you are going to sell a soft drink called Cola Loca and you put all the logo and aesthetics of Coca Cola on it, you are incurring confusion. It seemed to me that something of that happened and obviously to her too because when gave the explanations said it was old brochures”.

Despite the altercation, both legislators urged to continue with the campaign and leave the discussion by the wayside. Lazo, from the Broad Front, maintained that it was “much more likely” that they would tell him that he was with the No ballot before they pointed out that the brochures were old. “We arrived in Flores and the comrades had very little material. They had those that had been printed, which if you look at their content are strictly about why Yes to the annulment of the articles, but they do not say anything about the color of the ballots because the court has not yet I had assigned the colors.

For his part, Asiaín asked to stop these practices and valued part of the explanations of the legislator. “It was wrong. I appreciate that he gave an explanation that basically says: ‘Yes, this should not be done.’ a fact and to stop, but I don’t want to follow her. I have nothing to clarify. She knows very well what she is doing and we are great. That’s it; a mischief, but it seemed to me that it did not correspond”.
