Senator Núñez (PC) points out that “the Government does not have the strength to advance further” in the discussion of the TPP11 because “the right is in a very aggressive attitude”

The senator of the Communist Party, Daniel Núñez, referred to the TPP11 project, explaining that it was not considered by the political scene after the plebiscite, where the Government “cannot advance further” and that the right “is very aggressive”.

in conversation with Radio New Worldthe senator stated that “I am in favor of an optimal scenario, in which the Government withdraws the TPP11 and that it would have waited to have the negotiations finished, because it is obvious that if a country approves a treaty, its negotiation loses force. It was not considered as a option, one would wonder why.

“I think this has to do with the scenario that is configured with the triumph of the Rejection, the right is in a very aggressive attitude. If the president withdraws the TPP11 they would make this a reason for questioning and unfortunately today the Government does not have the enough strength to go further,” he added.

On the other hand, Núñez stated that “we have given the fight from the Senate, but we have not been able to cover the streets. This is combined as a scenario in which we do not have significant citizen pressure, in which we have a Government weakened by the victory of the Rejection, which makes an option that in my opinion is correct and generates a scenario of tranquility, of withdrawing the TPP11 from the Senate, and waiting for the negotiations to replace it, because the withdrawal does not imply that it ends, it would have given us peace of mind and If the negotiation does not go well, the process is suspended”.
