Along with several images where both of them shake hands, Uribe said he had expressed “his admiration” to González Urrutia and the founder of Vente Venezuela, María Corina Machado, for their political work in defending the results of July 28 in which, according to the Venezuelan Command, the opponent won in the elections.
He highlighted in his message posted in Xthat there are “millions of Colombians” who support the fight he leads and that “do not be confused” by the “ideological alliance” between leaders Gustavo Petro and Nicolás Maduro. In addition, he told him that he is committed to ensuring that the result of the Venezuelan presidential elections in favor of the ambassador is recognized in Colombia.

He Senate of Colombia approved the Tuesday September 24 a resolution where Edmundo González Urrutia was recognized as the “undisputed winner” of the last presidential elections, and the government of Gustavo Petro was urged to publicly recognize his position as president-elect.

With this, they join a similar proposal approved by the House of Representatives on September 16 where recognition is also requested of González Urrutia, who is in Spain after being a victim of “coercion” as reported in recent days.
The measure by the Colombian Senate follows the path outlined by parliaments such as Spain, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
