Independent Senator, Carmen Glory Aravenareferred to the approval by Congress of a new extension of the emergency constitutional state of exception that has been in force in four southern provinces since October 2021.
The measure was approved by 18 votes and will be valid from March 11 to March 26 in the provinces of BioBío, Arauco, Cautín and Malleco.

“The diagnosis is still very complex. A few days ago a global terrorism index came out, with our country number 18 in the ranking, and Araucanía is the one that concentrates the majority of terrorist attacks, which today are recognized internationally as very serious,” said the parliamentarian.
“This indicator also reveals that the attacks are being carried out by organized groups, many linked to the indigenous cause, which we will never be very clear about because there are around six groups that are acting and claiming responsibility for the attacks,” he added.
In addition, the parliamentarian expressed that the Senate’s decision “is even favorable for the new government, despite its refusal to maintain it. The fact that it has been expanded allows them to remove the entire contingent from the area and work on a strategy.”
“It must be recognized that the attacks have decreased by 47%, which add up, according to the Government, to more than 800. But there have been several murders in a year, and something must be done. What is not going to change is that the radical groups have said that they are at war, they are fighting and they have a fight that has been growing,” continued the senator in radio dna.
“I think it is time to withdraw the Armed Forces, and on the other hand, put together a strategy,” he closed.
