Senate will enter the shortlist of the Supreme Court of Justice

At 11:00 in the morning the extra session is convened in the Upper House, where the plenary session will give official entry to the note received on Friday and sent by the Council of the Magistracy.

Subsequently, the document will be forwarded to the Committee on Constitutional Affairs for consideration.

The members of said commission will convene Gustavo Santander, Gustavo Ocampos and María Teresa González de Daniel to an audience, in order to hear their perspectives and projects, and from there issue an opinion and enable treatment in plenary.

The Council included files in digital format, of the personal files of each member and the videos of the sessions developed for the conformation of the shortlist.

Once the Senate chooses one of the three candidates, it will forward the decision to the Executive Branch, where the President of the Republic must provide constitutional agreement for confirmation.

Whoever is selected will be the new minister of the Supreme Court of Justicereplacing Antonio Fretes, who forcibly left office upon reaching the age of 75, which requires retirement.
