The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) issued a statement in relation to the Financial Times publication, on the expressions of the President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez.
The British newspaper Financial Times revealed that Abdo Benítez asked the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for a “billion dollar investment”, in order to resist internal pressure and remain allies.
In this regard, the Embassy of Taiwan in our country expressed its appreciation for the friendship of the people and government of Paraguay and thanked the clarification of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for reaffirming the “fraternal relations between both peoples.”
“Lately we are working together with President Mario Abdo Benítez, his administration and economic sectors of both countries, to strongly promote the attraction of investment and the strengthening of bilateral trade. We agree with the same objective of building a double-win strategic alliance,” the Embassy said.
The statement highlighted that at the same time, excellent results were achieved through the joint collaboration of public and private actors between Paraguay and Taiwan, for economic reactivation in the post-pandemic, in areas such as MSME entrepreneurship, the empowerment of women and the strengthening of industrial policies.
“The commitment to advance together with Paraguay towards development is unalterable. We continue to deepen and expand possible investment projects, economic cooperation and commercial exchanges for the benefit and economic progress of our two nations”, continued the Embassy.
