Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Senate approved this Tuesday in a single reading the resolution requesting the executive director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), Milton Morrison, provide for the annual technical inspection of motor vehicles, as provided by law number 63-17, on Mobility, Land Transportation, Traffic and Road Safety of the Dominican Republic.

The legislative initiative presented by Senator Antonio Marte, in its fifth recital, requests the gradual withdrawal of land transport units, scrap metal or vehicles in poor condition, and the creation and compliance of the replacement schedule for land transport units. of the public passenger service, the application throughout the national territory of the Vehicle Technical Inspection must be ordered with high priority, immediately and compliance with the regulations issued by the Intrant.

Furthermore, it establishes that the technical rules to check the correct operation of motor vehicles that travel on public roads in the Dominican Republic must faithfully comply with road safety and environmental protection standards.
