Senate rejects state of emergency in Amambay proposed by Blas Llano

Blas Llano, a national senator for the PLRA, requested the table treatment of the bill that declares a state of emergency in the department of Amambay. Llano’s request was that his initiative be treated as the first item on the agenda.

“I think there are priority issues. I’m not saying the others aren’t important. I understand that what happened in Pedro Juan Caballero with the attack suffered by the mayor, deserves the attention of the Senate and Congress in general, “he said.

In the statement of reasons, the document reads in part the following; “Everything that has been done in that department has failed miserably. There is talk that the state of emergency is not convenient, but I don’t know what else needs to happen to wake up from this lethargy.”

Through nominal vote, 24 senators voted for approval and 9 senators for rejection. 7 abstentions and 5 absences were recorded. The proposal did not obtain the necessary number of votes for its treatment in the session of the date.

27 votes were needed since 40 senators were present, that is, two-thirds of those present.

«I want to communicate my retirement. It seems to me a wrong decision. In my particular case, it’s not worth continuing this session », he pointed out, visibly annoyed.
