Senate receives notice to nullify Bonilla’s reinstatement

This procedure will be done “regardless of the appeal that Senator Bonilla filed in his right” on this sentence, explained the legislator.

Last Thursday night, the Courtroom concluded that Bonilla’s reinstatement as senator was illegal.

According to the sentence, the former president of Baja California, who held that position from November 2019 to October 31, 2021, vacated the Senate, so he must be replaced by his alternate in the Senate, Gerardo Novelo.

This is because he would be prevented “after having served as governor during the validity of a license for an indefinite period approved by the Chamber of Senators, since by taking protest as state president he opted for said popularly elected position and exhausted his right to choose between the two. ”.

For this reason, Bonilla, who rejoined the Senate on March 29, must leave his seat, since the TEPJF declared his reinstatement null and void.

After that sentence, Bonilla reported on Twitter that he will challenge the resolution before the Superior Chamber of the TEPJF.
