Senate postpones “Conflict of Interest” project for 8 days

By 24 votes, they postpone the project of the law of the Conflict of interests. After a debate of more than three hours, the Senate decided to postpone the bill that aims to prevent the private sector from taking advantage of people who have held high positions in the public sector and can transfer privileged information.

The project known as the “Revolving Doors” also aims to prevent senior managers of private entities from entering the public sector where they can have a favorable impact on the economic future of the company to which they provided services before becoming part of the State.

One of the senators who was openly against the initiative was Enrique Riera, national senator for the ANR (chartist).

The legislator even described the project as unconstitutional since each person has the freedom to work where it suits them best.

Sergio Godoy, also a senator for the Chartist caucus, argued that the knowledge that one can extract from the public function and then apply abroad, not only affects the members of the Executive, but all the authorities.
