Senate economic commissions, with Petro

Senate economic commissions, with Petro

After the installation of Congress on July 20, this Tuesday it was defined how the 108 senators will be distributed, by commissions. Within these, in the third and fourth, where economic matters are processed, the incoming government of Gustavo Petro would add more supporters than detractors.

(Senate of the Republic approves the Escazú Agreement).

Between both commissions there are 32 senators, and by coalitions Petro would already have at least 16 of the quotas, without counting possible votes from the parties that declared themselves independent, the Conservative, with four seats, and the union between the Radical Change, the U Party and Mira, with eight senators in the economic ones.

The opposition, the Democratic Centeronly has four positions in the economic commissions. In the Third will be the congressmen Ciro Alejandro Ramírez and Miguel Uribe; Enrique Cabrales Baquero and Carlos Meisel will sit in the Fourth Commission.

It must be remembered that the third commission discusses the issues of finance and public credit; taxes, exemptions, monetary regime; laws on the Bank of the Republic, referring to National Planning, among other topics.

(This is how the presidency of the Senate was distributed for the next 4 years).

There, for the historical pact, there are Clara López Obregón and Gustavo Bolívar; Jairo Castellanos and Carolina Espitia from the Alianza Verde Coalition and Centro Esperanza; by the Liberal Karina Espinosa, Juan Diego Echavarría, Juan Pablo Gallo and Mauricio Gómez; and from the Commons Party, Imelda Daza.

From the Conservative party are Efraín José Cepeda and Liliana Esther Bitar; and the Radical Change Party, the Party of La U and Mira there are senators José Alfredo Gnecco, Juan Carlos Garcés, Arturo Char and Antonio Zabaraín.

The fourth commission focuses on issues related to the budget and fiscal control. From the government party, the senators in this commission are Aida Avella, Wilson Arias and Paulino Riascos; for the Alianza Verde Coalition and Centro Esperanza is Angélica Lozano. The Liberals are Laura Fortich, Claudia Pérez and Jhon Jairo Roldán.

Senators Juan Samy Mrheg and Liliana Benavides Solarte participate from the conservatives, while for the union between Radical Change, the Party of the U and Mira They are Jhony Besaile, Juan Felipe Lemus, Carlos Abraham Jiménez and Carlos Farello.
