The president of the Senate, Andrónico Rodríguez, affirmed yesterday that the legislators hope that the Minister of the Government, Eduardo del Castillo, will send them their answers to the Requests for Written Reports (PIEs) that were sent to him in order to know in detail about what is happening in the Bolivian Police, involved in different irregular acts.
“There are a series of Requests for a Written Report to the Minister of Government of what is happening inside Felcn, Diprove, Felcv. We are definitely concerned that elements (of the police) are involved in irregular acts, in this last case that has surprised us all in the Diprove case, stolen cars in Chile, of their own commanders and policemen who are with stolen mobility, “he said. .
In this context, he mentioned that people ask themselves the question that if they are not safe in the hands of those who should take care of them, “then in whose hands are we going to be safe? We are going to wait for the minister’s response and see what the problem is,” Rodríguez anticipated.

He indicated that in recent weeks different instances dependent on the Bolivian Police have been under the scrutiny of citizen criticism, after discovering irregular events in the Special Force for the Fight against Drug Trafficking (Felcn) and recently in the National Directorate for the Prevention of Robbery of Vehicles (Diprove), which is why a restructuring of the institution of order is “urgent”.
“We need a total restructuring of the Police that comes from the very bowels of this institution. The police are part of the State and must serve the people as such, with proposals that are born from the Bolivian Police itself and that neither the Assembly nor the Executive or any other institution are imposing with any strategic plan to change it, to accommodate the service of some instance of the Government”, he declared, after participating in a public act in Cochabamba.
Rodríguez’s statements come after the former commander of the Uyuni border police, Raúl Cabezas, was sent to jail for the case of the stolen cars in Chile. Precisely a stolen vehicle was on the property of the sister of this officer; She stated that the motorcycle was given to her as a pledge for a debt for her legal services.
