The Senate leadership had announced that it would not file criminal charges against those who broke into the headquarters at Reforma and Insurgentes last Tuesday and snuck into the session hall when the judicial reform was being discussed, but the insurance company with which the leadership of that chamber of Congress has a contract for the protection of the building will not pay for the damages until those responsible are reported to the ministerial authorities.

The president of the Senate’s board of directors, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, said that he believes that no criminal proceedings should be initiated against any of the people who stormed the legislative headquarters, since the perpetrators are the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), National Action Party (PAN) and Citizen Movement (MC), whose legislators resorted to all kinds of maneuvers to prevent the judicial reform from being approved.

He added that the cost of the repairs to be made is being evaluated, including the replacement of a wooden door in the plenary hall that protesters destroyed in order to gain entry by force.

He confirmed the reports that one of the young people who led the hundreds of people protesting against the reform and violently entered the building is Juan Pablo Beltrán Viggiano, son of the PRI senator Carolina Viggiano, who is currently a councilor in the Miguel Hidalgo municipality.

Fernández Noroña clarified that he cannot blame Viggiano for this, but it is a fact that those who were at the protest entered violently as soon as it was known that Morena and its allies already had the votes required to achieve the necessary qualified majority.

Gonzalo Yáñez, senator of the Labor Party (PT), commented that it was evident that the opposition encouraged the violent invasion of the headquarters of that chamber, since they stayed to talk with those who did not respect the premises and climbed onto the board of directors and those of the seats and then, when they resumed the session in the Xicoténcatl mansion, they persisted in the intention of derailing the parliamentary process, but They ran into most of the legislators of the 4T.

Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín, from the PVEM, called on the opposition to act sensibly, because, Inciting violence, creating divisions, and calling for disqualification will not achieve anything..

He added that there is no minimum effort to achieve rapprochement, all are approaches as if they were still campaigning, but without changing the method: everything is hate, lies, lynching campaigns against senators who did not vote as they wanted, especially on social networks. This way they will divide the country even more, but they will not get one more vote..
