The Senate once again approved an extension to the constitutional state of exception that governs some sectors of the Bio Bío and La Araucanía regions.
It should be remembered that this measure was decreed for the first time on October 13 of last year by the President, Sebastian Pinerafor the provinces of Biobío, Arauco, Cautín and Malleco, after the acts of violence in the area.
This project has been controversial, since the future president, Gabriel Boric, has declared that this measure will cease to apply once they take office on March 11. In turn, the future Minister of the Interior, Izkia Sichesindicated that “the measure has not achieved the objective of reducing violence, but rather has increased it.”
The measure will last 15 more days in the aforementioned territory.
