The Senate approved, this Tuesday (30), the nomination of Senator Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) and the former mayor of São Paulo, Gilberto Kassab as full members of the Council of the Republican advisory body chaired by the President of the Republic.
As alternate members of the body, the nominations of the former president of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), Marcus Vinícius Furtado Coelho, and the president of the National Confederation of Industry, Robson Braga de Andrade, were approved.
The role of the Council of the Republic is to pronounce on federal intervention, state of defense, state of siege and issues relevant to the stability of democratic institutions.
In addition to the President of the Republic, the Vice President of the Republic participates in the council; the president of the Chamber of Deputies; the president of the Senate; the leaders of the majority and minority in the two Legislative Houses, designated in regimental form, and the Minister of Justice. Six native Brazilian citizens, over 35 years of age, are still part of the council.
Contest
The Senate Plenary also approved today a draft resolution that confirms the requirement of higher education for the position of legislative police officer. The area will be one of those contemplated in the next contest public to the House.
