The Senate approved today (8) a Provisional Measure (MP) that extends until the end of 2023 the possibility of rescheduling cultural and tourism services and events postponed or canceled due to the pandemic. The text serves the consumer, who was prevented by covid-19 from accessing some cultural product or service already paid for. The text goes to presidential sanction.
In 2020, law 14,046 was published, in a period of growth of covid-19 in Brazil, providing for the postponement and cancellation of services in the cultural sector. The MP comes to extend the term of these measures to 2022.
postponement
Thus, the consumer who opts for the service or event credit postponed or canceled until December 31, 2022, can use it until December 31, 2023. If you choose to reschedule the date, the deadline will be the same. Law 14,046 exempts the company from refunding amounts paid by consumers, as long as it ensures the rescheduling of postponed or canceled services, events or reservations, or even grants credit for use in the purchase of other company services.
The refund of the money will be mandatory if the company is unable to reschedule the event or grant the credit in the expected manner. This return must occur until December 31, 2022. The rules apply both to canceled and rescheduled events and to new events that are canceled in the new period, even if more than once.
