Senate approves inclusion of school fairs among teaching expenses

Six people remain hospitalized after attack in Aracruz

The Senate approved this Wednesday (29) the PLC 162/2015, which includes complementary curricular activities between maintenance and teaching development expenses. The text goes to presidential sanction.

According to the approved project, the Law of Guidelines and Base of National Education (LDB) will be amended so that these activities can be financed. They consist of science, mathematics and literature fairs, theater presentations and training courses for teachers and other teaching professionals. One of the objectives of the project is to encourage the expansion of the offer of integral education in the country.

As a result, these actions will be able to receive, each year, 25% of the revenue collected from tax collection by states and municipalities.

Currently, the LDB lists as expenses only activities related to the fulfillment of the core activity of educational institutions, such as payment of teachers’ salaries and purchase of materials.
