“There is no Uruguayan who does not understand that this reform is absolutely necessary,” said Senator Sergio Botana
In its last session of the year, the Senate approved the social security reform project that now passes to the orbit of the House of Representatives, where the initiative originally presented by the Executive Power will be dealt with next year.
upper house had generally approved the project on Tuesday night with 18 votes in 30, but on Wednesday the articles of the Common Pension System initiative were discussed.
“The social security system project has been approved and passes to the House of Representatives on the date. Good year”, said Vice President Beatriz Argimón to end the parliamentary session.
In the press conference given later by the government coalition bench, the senator of the National Party Sergio Botana maintained that “there is no Uruguayan who does not understand that this reform is absolutely necessary.”
“An act of responsibility and intelligence that we have carried out thinking about the future, sensibly, calmly, without contraindications, listening to everyone, changing newsrooms, we are truly extremely happy with what we have voted for. We have done it with the highest satisfaction, responsibility and affection for the country, and without thinking at any time about a matter of short-term politics”, he said.
“Unfortunately we have found some arguments… not against the reform, we have all agreed that this reform is essential. The historical leaders of all the parties and, ultimately, all the senators of all the parties, there is not a Uruguayan who does not understand that this reform is absolutely necessary. Why is the country getting out of hand if we don’t do it”, added the nationalist.
