Santo Domingo.– Judge Rigoberto Sena, of the Permanent Care Office of the National District, imposed coercive measures of preventive detention and house arrest on the 10 defendants in the alleged embezzlement of the National Health Insurance (Senasa), among them its former executive director, Dr. Santiago Hazim, identified as the main defendant in the case.
The magistrate ordered 18 months of preventive detention in it Najayo Correctional Center for Hazim, as well as for Rafael Martínez Hazim, Germán Robles, Gustavo Messina Cruz, Francisco Iván Minaya Pérez, Ramón Alan Speakler Mateo and Ada Ledesma Ubiera.
Meanwhile, the defendants Eduardo Read Estrella, Cinty Acosta Sención and Heidi Mariela Pineda were imposed house arrest as a measure of coercion.

According to him Public Ministrythe accused would have participated in a structure that allegedly embezzled the Dominican State through the commission of multiple crimes in Senasa, including coalition of officials, prevarication, association of criminals, bribery, scam against the state, embezzlement, falsificationuse of false documents and money laundering.
The authorities indicated that the judicial process will continue its course in accordance with the provisions of the law, while investigations into the case continue.
