Captain Luis Castillo of the National Aeronaval Service in interviews with Radio Panama provided details about the evacuations and rescues they carry out in rural areas and areas of difficult access in a job together with the Ministry of Health.

Castillo explained that the most common cause are snake bites and fractures where the area doctor assesses the emergency and if necessary transfer for better care and that is where we are called to take patients to hospitals.

“In the course of the last 4 years we have rescued some 858 people, the most common cases, we have had 195 people rescued by drifting boats, mostly due to engine damage and some even do not have a radio and when leaving coverage cell phones remain incommunicado,” Castillo said.
