Heavy rains were recorded last weekend in the region Cajamarcareaching accumulated 75 millimeters in Chota, 56mm in Cutervo and 48.8 mm in JaénAccording to the regional office of the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (Senamhi).
In some localities it was also reported hail fallwhile the most intense rainfall was concentrated in the central area of the regionaccurate Caroline Quispe Palmameteorological analyst at Senamhi Cajamarca.
“We are in the spring season and rain is characteristic of this season,” explained the specialist, ruling out that these precipitations respond to any climate anomaly.
According to Quispe, current atmospheric conditions—such as the moisture ingress towards the northern mountains—could cause rains of equal or greater intensity in the next few days.
The analyst also indicated that the past Sunday October 12in the city of Cajamarca an accumulation of 3.4 millimeters of rain, within the expected values for this time of year.
Forecast for the next few days
According to the Senamhi weather forecast, for this Tuesday October 14 expected a partly cloudy sky in the morning with a slight increase in daytime temperature on the western slope, which will vary to overcast sky with light and moderate rain towards the end of the day, especially on the eastern slope.
For him Wednesday October 15the panorama will be similar, with scattered clouds to cloudy sky and light to moderate rain in the provinces of San Miguel, San Pablo and Hualgayoc.
Radiation and fire risk
Senamhi warned that, during this period, it is expected very high ultraviolet radiation around noon, as well as conditions conducive to the spread of forest fires.
The rains could be accompanied by electric shocks, gusts of wind and falling hailespecially in areas located above the 2,600 meters above sea level.
