He National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (Senamhi) issued a yellow alert due to the increase of winds of light to moderate intensity that will affect the north and central coast of the country between the Wednesday, October 15 and Thursday, October 16.
According to the Senamhi report, the phenomenon could generate dust and sand liftingas well as reduced horizontal visibility in various areas of the coast. Furthermore, the presence of cloud cover, drizzle, fog and mistespecially during the early hours of the morning and early morning.
“This phenomenon could generate dust and sand rising, as well as a reduction in horizontal visibility,” the organization stated in its official statement.
The alert covers the regions Áncash, Callao, Ica, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima and Piuraand will be valid until Thursday, October 16 at 11:59 p.m..

Senamhi reported that for this Wednesday October 15 are expected winds of up to 33 km/h on the north coast, 34 km/h on the central coast, 22 km/h on the south coast and 34 km/h in Ica.

The authorities asked the population to take precautions against possible effects on the light infrastructure, awnings either advertisementsas well as avoiding outdoor activities in areas with dust or sand. Drivers were also urged to drive with caution due to the decreased visibility on coastal roads.
Senamhi recalled that it will continue to monitor the behavior of the winds and update its warnings through its official channels.
