The National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (Senamhi) reported that, from Friday, October 7 to Saturday, October 8, rain of moderate intensity will be recorded in the jungle.
According to Notice No. 202this precipitation will be accompanied by electrical discharges and gusts of wind with speeds greater than 35 km/h.
For Friday, October 7, rainfall accumulations close to 50 mm/day are expected in the southern high jungle, above 40 mm/day in the southern low jungle, and values close to 30 mm/day in the central jungle.
Meanwhile, for Saturday, October 8, rainfall accumulations close to 40 mm/day are expected in the central jungle and values above 35 mm/day in the northern jungle.
The departments of possible affectation are: Amazonas, Cusco, Huánuco, Junín, Loreto, Madre de Dios, Pasco, Puno, San Martín and Ucayali.
Cold in the jungle
On the other hand, the Senamhi announced that this weekend there will also be a drop in temperature in the Peruvian jungle due to the entry of the twenty-first cold of the year.
Specialists detailed that the entry of this mass of cold air will contribute to the occurrence of precipitation such as wind gusts and cloud cover during the day. This will generate a decrease in daytime temperature.
The phenomenon will enter the southern jungle on the morning of Friday, October 7. During the early hours of Saturday, October 8, a non-significant drop in minimum temperature is expected with values close to 19°C in the southern jungle and a maximum temperature of up to 26°C.
Landslide simulation
The Ministry of Health (Minsa) through the Directorate of Integrated Networks (Diris) East Lima and the General Directorate of Disaster Risk Management and National Health Defense (Digerd) will carry out today the exercise of huaico simulation followed by overflow of the Rímac river, in the district of Chaclacayo.
