Micro, small and medium-sized companies (MSMEs) can send to the National Service for Industrial Learning (Senai) projects for the application of Industry 4.0 technology in their production processes. The institution launched a R$ 10 million public notice to foster innovation in the sector.
Each selected project will be able to count on up to R$ 800 thousand, encompassing both the development and the implementation of the technology in the client companies.
The contribution is part of the so-called Smart Factory, carried out in partnership with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) and the Ministry of Economy, and is available at Innovation Platform for Industry.
According to Senai, the Smart Factory concept refers to the application of the latest automation, digitalization, data management and connectivity techniques that impact the operational efficiency of companies. To boost the industrial sector, around 60 projects for development and innovation (RD&I) will be selected by companies operating in the sector of solutions for machines, equipment and systems, among other areas.

The Brazilian industry is more digital than it was five years ago. If in 2016 less than half (48%) used any of the digital technologies analyzed, in 2021 the percentage was 69%, as shown by the Special Industry 4.0 Survey, by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
Conducted in April of this year with more than a thousand companies, the survey sought to investigate the advance in the use of technologies from the so-called industry 4.0, which provides for the digitalization of industrial production to integrate the different stages of the value chain, from product development to end use.
