During an operation in the Guna Yala region, the National Border Service managed to seize some 300 blue packages of suspected drugs, hidden in eight packages wrapped with black cartridges and multiple fuel tanks. This action was carried out by Intelligence and Investigation units and the Puerto Obaldía Battalion, after intercepting a Go Fast boat near the community of Carreto. Despite the chase, the occupants managed to flee. A 22-foot fiberglass boat with a HP motor and six 38-caliber ammunition was also seized.
In addition, the important seizure of 18 gallons of liquid Cocaine was highlighted, discovered through special investigation techniques on Saler Island, Narganá, by Anti-Narcotics units. Two people were detained, along with a handmade boat and two cell phones.
This type of smuggling, although not common in our country, represents a high value in the international market. It is estimated that, when transformed into powder, the value of the seized Cocaine would amount to B/.1,362,748 dollars in the United States, with a unit price of B/.20,000.00 dollars per package.
The cases were referred to the Public Ministry of Colón and Guna Yala for the corresponding legal procedures.
