As has been warned for several weeks, the platforms of the National Learning Service are experiencing failures in their service, according to the entity’s unions, as a result of the complications. in the contract that the entity had with Telefónica for the provision of connectivity services.
Through a statement, the Sena Public Employees Union (Sindesena) stated that until October 27, Telefónica provided ICT services, in compliance with the manifest urgency that was declared when it failed to extend the contract in April. , as reported by the Attorney General’s Office.

“In addition to suspending the internet service, from midnight on October 28, in the morning hours, the domain Sena.Edu.Co It stopped working and with it, all the entity’s applications,” they began telling.
These workers added that when they asked about what happened, the directors and managers informed them that although the payment for this domain was made by Telefónica and after that it had to be transferred to the Sena, said procedure was not completed, which is why there is now intermittency in access to your website, among other failures.
“Although a lack of foresight is identified on the part of the Systems Office of the Sena to demand the transfer of ownership of this domain, it is also clear that Telefónica is betting on the failure of the new ICT services model, because it will no longer receive the more than $1,000 million per day that the Institution was spending,” they denounced in the statement. .
From Sindesena they added that in seeking to establish the reality of the situation, they were able to verify that the Systems Office only has around 100 switches (interconnection equipment for the supply of the Internet) throughout the country, when the inventory of needs is of the order of 5,000; which already warns that they will not be able to meet the demand for services.
“These devices were not included in the service of the new internet provider -Internexa- but the Sena lately decided to do so and the purchase that would be available at the end of December is just beginning, according to the information collected, and for this reason Only a very limited connectivity service can be provided at the headquarters during in the next two months, which would not reach 20% of what is required,” they reported in this regard.

“With the limited possibilities of active equipment to provide connectivity “adequate within the Sena, we have been informed that priority will be given to the availability of the Onbase and Kactus applications, the registration of applicants for the educational offer for the first quarter of 2025 and some support services from the Systems Office,” they added in the complaint.
Finally, they stated that after demanding that the magnitude of the difficulties faced in the administrative processes and the execution of Vocational Training be recognized due to the lack of connectivity and availability of applications, “only in the evening hours of Monday the 28th In October, the possibility of issuing a communication authorizing work at home for administrative areas was defined, without affecting public service.”
Sindesena closed by recalling that this emergency had been announced sufficiently in advance, and criticized that despite these warnings, the timely measures were not taken to purchase the assets necessary to guarantee connectivity, in addition to the crisis in the supply of computers that has already been explained and additional information will be published in a future newsletter.
