Semilla Tech call opened

Support for digital solutions for MSMEs

You can now apply for “Semilla Tech”, a call that supports technology-based companies or ventures that generate digital solutions for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MIPYMES) throughout the country. Technical and financial support of up to $1,950,000 per project will be granted.

This new instrument of the Digital Mode program of the National Development Agency (ANDE) is aimed at software projects, hardware, online services or digital platforms that automate processes and help MSMEs to become digital. The solutions or platforms to be developed must be focused on solving challenges in the following thematic areas: sell more, manage and work better, produce better, cybersecurity, and financial services (fintech), as explained by the Modo Digital team during the Launch, held virtually.

During the opening, the director of ANDE Federico Perdomo assured that “digitization is extremely important to improve the competitiveness of small businesses and ventures. In this case, Semilla Tech supports the companies that generate these solutions to support MSMEs" Representatives of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies (CUTI) and the Chamber of the Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU), who participated in the launch, described the situation of MSMEs in Uruguay and their challenges to transform digitally. As explained, “2023 digital consumption trends indicate that more than half of Uruguayans use the internet to buy products and services (not counting deliveries and transport of apps). MSMEs are at a disadvantage if they cannot offer their products online. For that they need instruments to adapt, and according to their possibilities. This instrument allows the sector to develop or adapt existing solutions that are accessible to smaller companies.” Then two companies that provide technology solutions for MSMEs, told their experiences. Semilla Tech is an instrument that is administered under the contest modality and entrepreneurial companies or teams may apply. The deadline to finalize the application will be September 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
