DNI: what to do if I appear as married, but I really am not

See the changes you can make if you are going to renew your ID virtually

You’ll ? If it is your turn to change your National Identity Document and you plan to do it virtually before Reniec, you should bear in mind that you can make four changes to update your data. Here we tell you what they are.

The DNI must be changed every 8 years and the ideal is that you do not wait for it to expire, but rather you can start your procedure 60 days before its expiration so that you do not have problems when doing any procedure. And it is that this card is the only one in Peru that is used for all civil, commercial, administrative, judicial acts and, in general, for all those cases in which, by legal mandate, it must be presented, including the right to vote. of each citizen.

The National Identity Document, issued by Reniec, is the only reliable instrument of identification when it contains up-to-date information: both the main data of the citizen such as address, marital status, photograph, signature and fingerprints. Therefore, if you are going to renew it and want to update information, you must take into account what data you can do virtually, which is faster; and others require to be done in person.

WHY SHOULD THE DNI BE RENEWED?

It is the only reliable instrument of identification, so the document must be updated, with the image and personal data. This serves to combat identity theft and child trafficking. Its use is mandatory for all citizens, according to articles 26 and 27 of Law No. 26497, which is the Reniec Organic Law.

If you do not renew your National Identity Document (DNI) you will have impediments to carry out procedures in state and private entities; and you will not be able to travel abroad with your expired ID either. In banks, for example, you will not be able to carry out procedures that require a valid DNI such as withdrawals at the window, request loans, receive remittances or government bonds.
