Sedes moved to get Jhoselyn a hospital bed and will continue to support her

Finding Jhoselyn Pemintel, who suffers from tuberculosis and needs to be admitted to a tertiary hospital, was not easy for Headquarters, which on Saturday the 12th toured the city until find the house where she is staying and thus be able to transport her by ambulance to a second level health center.

Jorge Quiroz, coordinator of Urban Health Networks, from Headquarters, says that many people from the Government’s Health Secretariat were mobilized to give Jhoselyn the possibility of receiving the medical care she requires. Thus, they managed to get a space in intermediate care, in which you could count on oxygen support permanent for her, at the Los Pocitos hospital of Plan 3,000.

According to the reports that Quiroz received from the director of the hospital, during the routine interview that is carried out in triage, to carry out the clinical history and the epidemiological filling of the patients, Jhoselyn se would have been irritated, annoyed and reluctant to respond when the doctor who received her asked about a possible consumption of controlled substances.

Both Jhoselyn and María Eugenia Rivas, who took her in and took care of her, denied that this situation occurred todayalthough they did not hide that they once consumed. Quiroz announced that this Monday the laboratory test results and it will be known if, in fact, Jhoselyn has consumed some type of controlled substance.

Jhoselyn continued to receive care and remained in triage. The hospital reports also show that she would have left the hospital “in an escape plan”, but that the police guarding the hospital would have taken her back. On the morning of Sunday the 13th, Jhoselyn requested her discharge and left the hospital.

Quiroz did not refer to the alleged mistreatment that both Jhoselyn and María Eugenia recounted.

The person in charge of health networks indicates that, when the figure of the requested discharge occurs, the patient assumes full responsibility for refusing treatment you need to protect your health.

However, he mentions that it is common for patients with tuberculosis or other transitory ailments to be susceptible to dealing with others, but he also explains that, for the care of patients with tuberculosis, the biosafety protocol indicates that they must be in isolation to cut the chain of infectionand that sometimes this shocks the affected patient. The Tuberculosis and HIV program at Headquarters has the psychological support to help these patients and open themselves to receive treatment, says the doctor.

Jhoselyn has an appointment with the pulmonologist at the San Juan de Dios hospital this Tuesday the 15th; Given her history, it is most likely that she will be hospitalized, according to the doctor.

“Despite the fact that the patient has asked to be discharged, it does not mean that we, as health personnel, leave her to her fate (…) Have no doubt that, in everything that concerns us, we will try to give the best attention possible”, Quiroz agrees.
