The Minister of Public Security (Minseg), Juan Manuel Pino, referred this Tuesday to the purchase and acquisition of an incinerator for drugs in Panama.

“We are looking for an efficient alternative to have our own incinerator, the proposal has already been submitted to the Secretariat of Conapred (National Commission for the Study and Prevention of Drug-Related Crimes), which has been approved; we have already started the study of environmental impact and we have the full support of the Anti-narcotics office,” he said.

According to the official, the country is expected to have the incinerator by next year. He did not know the investment of the same, since the cost depends on the capacity.

“There are incinerators that are 300, 500, one ton, as it is a technical matter, we are investigating well so as not to make mistakes. We want to buy a medium-capacity equipment,” he said.

Pino explained that around 12 tons are seized every month in Panama, thanks to the national strategy against drugs and the CROAN, which is the Regional Center for Naval Air Operations.
