Security forces shot down El Wilexis

This Wednesday morning, after facing a commission from the Scientific Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc) in Filas de Mariches, on the Petare-Santa Lucía highway, the criminal Wilexis Alexander Acevedo Monasterios, alias El Wilexis, was killed, reported the Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello.

“This criminal is one of the people who has done the most damage to the Petare community. There are countless murders and extortions that this gentleman, out of terror, carried out against the inhabitants of the Sucre municipality and the residents of all of Caracas,” Cabello said while highlighting the joint work of the State security agencies to confront this dangerous antisocial.

He also pointed out the connection of El Wilexis with the Venezuelan extreme right. “Let’s remember where the guarimbas started in 2017. (Wilexis) generated acts of violence in Petare, shootings, chases, injuries, in response to the order that these groups that generated violence received,” he said.

Wilexis and the extreme right

Wilexis had as its base of operations Zone 4 of the José Félix Ribas neighborhood, Petare, Sucre municipality (Miranda), where it charged small merchants for vaccinations, among other crimes.

Subsequently, El Wilexis was recruited by sectors of the Venezuelan extreme right to agitate Petare and surrounding sectors with violent actions. In fact, days before Juan Guaidó’s self-swearing in (January 2019), El Wilexis and his group blocked roads adjacent to the Petare and Palo Verde vial.

The following year, specifically at the end of April and beginning of May 2020, members of the Wilexis gang carried out a series of shootings in several areas of José Félix Ribas. It was later learned that it was an operation to distract security agencies, hours before the so-called Operation Gedeón, which began on May 3, 2020 on the coasts of Macuto (La Guaira) and Chuao (Aragua) with the arrival of former Venezuelan and American soldiers who came to kidnap President Nicolás Maduro and hand him over to the United States, according to testimonies.

José Alberto Socorro Hernández, alias Pepero, was one of those captured when security agencies stopped Operation Gedeón. Pepero recorded a statement in which he admitted that the United States Anti-Narcotics Agency (DEA) planned those shootings in Petare in coordination with El Wilexis.

“The idea was to create chaos in several popular areas of Caracas, contacting drug traffickers threatened by the DEA so that they would collaborate in this operation,” said alias Pepero.

“That’s why I contacted Richard Camarano, who is a partner and friend of Pran Wilexis, who manages the gangs in Petare and created an alleged confrontation with weapons of war, but without leaving any casualties,” the subject revealed.
