The union member said that the officials told him that he was being held for those hours “to investigate his actions,” to which he responded that his actions are to fight for a decent wage for all workers.
René Zapata, organizational secretary of the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers (FVM), was detained for eight hours this Thursday, November 7, by PNB officials in Los Teques.
Zapata said that he was held for more than eight hours, until he was finally released in the afternoon. “A GNB commando made up of about eight officials detained me near my house,” said to The Tequeño.
“They told me that they were holding me to investigate my actions, my actions are a living wage for all workers, that is my job. Government, we are asking for bonuses that really compensate us, 10 and 5 dollars are not enough at all. “I thank God, I am free,” Zapata expressed in a video.
The union member commented that he was transferred to the headquarters of the National Police in Caracaslocated in the La Quebradita sector and that there was a struggle because an arrest warrant was required.
“I was there from approximately 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, with uncertainty, it is normal to be scared,” he said. Zapata also mentioned that he will not stop protesting the labor demands of Mirandino teachers.
A couple of days ago the secretary had reported that pamphlets had been thrown in front of the FVM headquarters with messages against him.
