Second femicide in Cuba in less than three days

feminicidio, Cuba, Sagua la grande

MADRID, Spain.- The young Lisandra Crespo, 18 years old, was murdered this weekend in the municipality of Sagua la Grande, province of Villa Clara.

As reported by the journalist Nelson J. Álvarez Mairara through the social network Twitterthe murderer, identified as “Birulí”, is a pedicab driver.

The subject, who had been the victim’s partner, waited for her at the exit of a nightclub and stabbed her 20 times.

In images shared on social networks, the body of Lisandra Crespo can be seen lying on the ground, full of blood.

“It is inconceivable that the aggressor is not identified by name and surname, being a person that everyone claims to know. It is leaving the crime to chance and being part of the re-victimization of the victim,” Álvarez Mairara said.

This October 27 Janet Martinez, resident in the town of Lugareño, in the municipality of Minas, in the province of Camagüey, was attacked by her ex-partner, who fled after committing the crime.

The 47-year-old victim was attacked in her home, where she received about twenty-five blows with machetes, according to witnesses to the murder.

Martínez did not die at the time, but two hours after he was transferred to the local hospital. Close sources said that the person responsible for the femicide is called Héctor, he is a native of Minas and an officer of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR).

So far this year there have been 31 femicides in Cuba, of which five occurred in the month of October.

Throughout 2021, the independent feminist platform YoSíTeCreo in Cuba and the magazine Tense Wings They counted 36 femicides, four more violent deaths than in 2020 when they registered 32 (including four vicarious femicides).
