Some 20 graduates of the penitentiary system will take carpentry courses
In the workshop of the National Directorate of Support for the Released (DINALI) of the Ministry of Social Development (Mides), through an agreement with the General Directorate of Professional Technical Education-UTU, the training in carpentry was completed. The students refurbished the place advised by teachers. In recent months, some 77 Mides beneficiaries have graduated from courses in agreement with UTU, reported Minister Martín Lema.
The objective of the course is to generate “second chances” for those who recover their freedom. Lema affirmed that society as a whole must contribute to avoid recidivism, coexistence problems, acts of violence or street situations.
Likewise, he maintained that Mides works in two main lines of action. In the first place, it provides tools, from DINALI, which offers containment and training to those who leave the penitentiary system for their performance in the labor market.
Secondly, it generates job opportunities, which is why students are encouraged to create their own ventures or join companies. In this sense, Lema explained that MIDES signed agreements with public and private institutions so that they add graduates of the penitentiary system to their workforce.
On this point, he announced that, starting in March, in coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, a cycle of talks will begin with companies and business chambers to disseminate the social relevance of these actions and the economic benefits received by the firms. that they join
Lema added that “the important thing is that the whole circle is fulfilled”, which includes containment, tools and opportunities that contribute to the social reintegration of these people.
The carpentry course implies a total duration of 180 hours, in which theoretical learning is combined with practical instances. The training is carried out in the DINALI workshop, which was reopened last December, after being refurbished by UTU.
For his part, Pereyra highlighted the social imprint of the educational organization. From UTU, technical and trade courses are offered to disadvantaged populations to provide them with tools, he indicated.
